Chairman’s Award for Federal Achievement in Historic Preservation
In November 2004 the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) received the first-ever Chairman’s Award for Federal Achievement in Historic Preservation from the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP).
The Chairman's Award recognizes Federal projects, programs, initiatives, and policy leaders or career staff that make significant contributions to historic preservation in the Federal Government. Formal recognition by the ACHP chairman celebrates Federal preservation successes and showcases Federal accomplishments and best practices.
The ACHP is an independent Federal agency that promotes the preservation, enhancement, and productive use of our Nation's historic resources, and advises the President and Congress on national historic preservation policy. ACHP’s goal is to have Federal agencies act as responsible stewards of our Nation's resources when their actions affect historic properties. Visit ACHP’s website to learn more!
